Butterflies are among a group of beneficial insects which also include bees, ladybugs, praying mantis, spiders, and even some beetles, flies and wasps. Some of these insects keep destructive insects in check and others are great pollinators. Without them, our garden would be overrun by pests, disease and weak, unproductive plants.

Before spreading chemicals throughout your garden to get rid of those pesty insects, think about creating an environment friendly for beneficial insects to thrive and do what they do best. Pesticides do not discriminate, they will kill whatever comes across their path, which can be harmful to the insects and the environment in general so try natural deterrents like companion planting and sprays which repel rather than kill and remember those little beneficial insects can play a huge part in keeping you and your garden healthy.
