Miniature Trees Do Not Mean Miniature Fruit

Posted on 28 June 2008

Did you know that you could have miniature trees without affecting the size of the fruit? The trick is to first make sure you are buying a young full size tree and not a dwarf tree. You can miniaturize just about any tree, though some are easier than others to train. There are several techniques to do this, including bonsai and espalier. Though, these are considered “decorative” techniques, in today’s world, they can also be very useful for anyone who has limited space in their garden. These “miniature” trees can also be created in pots to be moved inside to be enjoyed all year long or to be put on porches and patios where there is nowhere to plant a full size tree.
