Don’t Do Dairy?

For those out there who are lactose intolerant or just don’t do dairy for some other reason, we have compiled a list of alternative sources of calcium. We could tell you to just pop a supplement pill or to consume “calcium fortified” products but we here at Butterfly Gardens believe that the best way to receive the nutrients you need is through natural whole foods. So, here is a list of some of those foods which contain a fair amount of calcium:

Sardines
Broccoli
Kale
Spinach
Mustard Greens
Turnip Greens
Okra
Brussels Sprouts
Sesame Seeds
Almonds
Soybeans
Chickpeas
Perch
White Beans
Soft Shelled Crab
Clams
Dandelion Greens
Trout

And you can add these calcium rich herbs/spices for flavor
Basil
Thyme
Cinnamon
